Lael Muchiri
Analyst, Climate & Energy Desk
Lael Muchiri is a passionate student pursuing a degree in Geography and Environmental Science majoring in Geoinformatics from the University of Pretoria (BSc). Her academic background equips her with the analytical and technical skills to contribute meaningfully to the Climate and Energy Desk. She is a proud member of Golden Key Southern Africa, an honour extended to students in the top 15% of their field, reflecting her commitment to academic excellence and impactful research.
She has previously worked as a writer and editor for Thinker’s Chronicle producing insightful articles on socio-economic, political and environmental issues. This experience has honed her ability to distill complex topics into accessible narratives.
Beyond academics, Lael has served as a General Committee Member for UP RAG (reach out and give), and as class representative for two modules demonstrating leadership and commitment to community engagement. Following her love for writing, she earned a silver award in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition under her category. Furthermore, she enjoys reading novels and hiking which keep her curious and inspired.
