Analyst, Commerce & Culture Desk

Mark Gaita is a data-driven analyst and researcher with a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from Strathmore University. With a strong foundation in client service, finance, and data analysis, Mark’s academic and professional journey has centred around understanding how market systems shape livelihoods, identities, and regional development in East Africa.

Mark’s work at the Local Development Research Institute reflects a strong intersection between research, economic development, and grassroots realities, where he contributed to building an AI-powered Early Warning System for over 300 farmers. This involved synthesising large volumes of labelled data, collaborating with engineers, and contributing insights that informed scalable solutions in agriculture.

As a Client Service Coordinator at Raiser Resource Group, Mark has further refined his ability to communicate impact through data, tracking training performance metrics and aligning development strategies with stakeholder goals across multiple sectors. In his free time, Mark enjoys sports, writing, and exploring the links between data, technology and development.
