Nelly Nyauntu is an undergraduate student pursuing Economics (BA) with a concentration in Data Science at New York University, Abu Dhabi. Her academic journey merges economic theory with quantitative analysis, drawing from rigorous coursework in both economics and computer science. This interdisciplinary training has strengthened her analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and appreciation for how data-driven insights can inform economic development.

With a growing interest in quantitative finance, Nelly is intrigued by how computational tools can be used to understand markets and inform financial decision-making. At the same time, her East African upbringing motivates her conviction that technology can be a powerful lever for economic growth, policy transformation, and inclusive progress across the region.

Outside the classroom, Nelly actively seeks opportunities to engage in intellectual discourse and collaborative problem-solving. She is particularly interested in how innovation, research, and financial systems can be mobilised to address systemic challenges and support long-term development goals in East Africa.
