Ryan Kiruthu

Ryan Kiruthu read law and holds a first-class honours degree from the University of Essex (LLB). His academic journey includes attending advanced programs such as at Stockholm University, with a particular focus on public international law and its impact on global governance and accountability.
His work has previously been published in the Riara University Law Journal, concerning the British government’s liability for colonial-era atrocities in Kenya, and featured in the Star newspaper through an exposé on the Migrated Archives – calling for the return of the classified colonial-era documents that detail historic human rights abuses.
Professionally, Ryan has gained international experience across Nairobi, Istanbul, London, and Geneva. Currently, he is the Legal Operations Analyst at HM Mudeizi & Co. Advocates, bridging the gap between legal expertise and business operations by optimising firm processes and systems. As a former intern at UNCTAD, his work supported the streamlining of international trade processes, leveraging data analytics to enhance operational outputs. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
Beyond legal practice, Ryan is an entrepreneur, architecting on nascent and novel ideas on how to build meaningful and impactful solutions for Africa’s problems, as an alumnus of the ALX Ventures Founder-Accelerator Program. Ryan can also name every country in the world, loves learning languages and playing Sudoku.
