Gabriella Kaggwa

Associate, Climate & Energy Desk

Gabriella Kaggwa is a goal-oriented graduate of Hamilton College in Economics (BA) with a minor in Environmental Science, graduating with departmental honours. Passionate about sustainability, energy, and impact investing, she is a candidate for a Master’s in Climate Finance (MS) at Columbia University, where she will begin her studies in 2026.

During her academic journey, Gabriella pursued research at the intersection of natural resources, and sustainable development in Africa. Her senior thesis, ‘Mines, Markets, and Margins: Analysing the Socioeconomic Impacts of Mineral Exports in Sub-Saharan Africa’, applies econometric modelling to assess how the carbon transition presents opportunities for African nations to leverage mineral wealth for long-term development. She has also gained valuable experience in venture capital due diligence, tax, and finance through roles, including with Ernst & Young (EY), and the Ministry of Finance of Uganda.

Beyond academics, Gabriella is committed to fostering opportunities for students. As an executive member of the Caribbean and African Student Association at Hamilton College, she secured a $10,000 grant that enabled students to attend the Yale African Innovation Symposium and engage with leaders driving economic growth and sustainable development in Africa. When she’s not immersed in climate-related work, she enjoys staying active at the gym, cooking, and practising yoga in group sessions.
