Melissa Ninsiima

Melissa Ninsiima is a final-year Law (LLB) student at Uganda Christian University (UCU), whose academic and professional trajectory strongly reflects her dedication to research, knowledge acquisition, and impactful contribution in the fields of artificial intelligence and intellectual property.
Melissa is a member of the University Honours College Program for students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and has served as a Writing Coach and Research Editor at the UCU Writing Center. She has honed her research, writing and policy analysis skills through programs by the Institute for Long-Termism in Africa (ILINA), Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) and the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT). She is currently enrolled in the AI Safety Programme with Blue dot Impact and is also working with the AI Safety Camp as a Legal Researcher, investigating how AI may strategically exploit regulatory loopholes, with a focused interest on its implications within the Criminal Justice System.
As an active member of the volunteering community, she has a passion for development initiatives that prioritise sustainability, children’s literacy and women’s rights. She supports these causes through the Rotaract Club of UCU, where she has served as the Professional Leadership and Development Chair. Melissa is also an effective altruist, African literature enthusiast and motorsport fan.
