Merlene Amonde is a proactive and astute Lawyer from the University of Nairobi. She brings a rich, interdisciplinary understanding to the team shaped by roles across academia, the public sector, non-profit and international organisations across Africa. As a budding specialised generalist, Merlene’s enduring interests lie in; international economic law, global financial institutions, project and development finance, and energy and infrastructure. 

As a Junior Researcher at the Committee on Fiscal Studies, Merlene’s research investigated the inadequacies in the current international financial architecture, particularly tax and debt, for emerging markets and the overreaching impacts in the realization of socio-economic rights. 

Merlene believes in the power of relationship building, strategy, enabling legal frameworks, access to capital and research, and is keen on leveraging the intersection of these concepts to translate knowledge into impactful action.
