Monica Wanjiru

Monica Wanjiru is a purpose-driven researcher and analyst with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi (LLB) and current enrolled in the Advocate Training Programme at the Kenya School of Law. Her foundation in international law, human rights, and disability rights has shaped a strong interest in governance, institutional reform, and sustainable development across East Africa’s evolving legal, economic, and social landscape.
As a Senior Analyst at Voluntas, Monica has led mixed-methods research projects for clients such as the World Bank, UNDP, and GIZ. She has delivered actionable insights from large-scale surveys and qualitative studies in fragile and conflict-affected contexts, directly informing donor programming and peacebuilding. Previously, as a Legal Intern with the UNODC Global Maritime Crime Programme, she supported EU and US-funded initiatives through legal research, donor reporting, and coordination of stakeholder engagements with prosecutors, judges, and policymakers across the Western Indian Ocean region.
Beyond her career, Monica co-founded Touch a Heart Revive, a youth-led initiative advancing social impact through fundraising, mentorship, and community projects. She is passionate about evidence-based policy, youth resilience, and inclusive development, bringing a blend of legal training, research expertise, and regional knowledge to her work on East Africa’s pressing challenges.
